Matthew Batty

SE London

Matthew learned the Suzuki method as a child, studying with Sharron Beamer and Alison Apley. He then continued his studies at the Junior Royal Academy of Music and then at the Royal Northern College of Music where he gained his Bmus. After graduating from the RNCM Matthew enjoyed many years as a freelance player, performing with many of the UK’s professional symphony orchestra’s including the BBC Concert, BBC Scottish, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Hallé, and Opera North among many others. It was during this time that he also discovered his love of teaching and went on to train as a Suzuki teacher. Matthew completed his level 3 Suzuki teacher training in 2003 and now has over 20 years of teaching experience. This, combined with his many years playing professionally, means he is able to bring a wealth of experience to his students. He cares deeply about his teaching and it is now the main focus of his professional work.
