Membership
The London Suzuki Group (LSG) exists to give your child opportunities that your individual teacher would not be able to provide on their own. By uniting children of the same ability level throughout the LSG we are able to provide workshops, concerts, master classes and music courses of a high standard.
Joining the LSG is the start of a musical journey that often lasts for a long time. Many members think that after several years of membership the group starts to feel like an extended family.
The musical occasions that they share with other teachers and families create very strong ties of friendship. These ties between students and families can often last for life, not just for the time spent in musical education.
Below is a list of the practical benefits of joining the LSG.
Pupils’ and Parents’ Benefits
Members of the LSG are automatically members of the British Suzuki Music Association (BSMA), which has the responsibility for training teachers and furthering Dr Suzuki’s work.
As a member you will receive:
- Annual BSMA journal.
- Discounts on publications and music.
- Access to national performance opportunities.
- Ability to participate in the Graduation process, including Graduation audits by highly-trained Suzuki teachers.
As well as…
- Access to a range of experienced teachers, who work together to maintain the highest standards, for individual and group lessons.
- The opportunity to perform in concerts organised by the LSG at various prestigious venues such as the Royal Academy of Music and Morley College.
- The opportunity to participate in large scale annual concerts, and other occasional concerts and workshops organised by the LSG at prestigious London venues.
- Priority booking rights to the annual LSG Summer School at Bryanston and, where possible, other courses run by LSG teachers.
- Musical instrument insurance 10% discount, available from Allianz Cornhill, call 0870 2400 303 and quote your membership number. Bear in mind, home contents cover often does not give suitable cover for instruments, especially when they are outside the home.
- Financial assistance from the Bursary Fund for lessons and courses, subject to means. Applications are made in February for awards starting in September. Any queries, please contact Nickie at bursary@londonsuzukigroup.co.uk.
- Help is available for children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). Please contact Myrto at myrto.rochat@gmail.com for further information.
- Help and advice from the teacher, and the network of LSG parents.
